Beaufort is a wonderful place to retire.  Among the waterways for sailing, the golf courses to work on your swing, the Arts Council and all the volunteer services in the county, you will never have a chance to become bored.  Most of the retirees in northern Beaufort County live in traditional neighborhoods, although there is a 55 and older community in Southern Beaufort County called Sun City. A large majority of our retirees live in golfing communities: Royal Pines, Pleasant Point and Cat Island are all on Lady's Island; Dataw Island is on St. Helena; Harbor Island has no golf but does have a beautiful beach and tennis courts; and then there is Fripp Island which has golf, beaches, tennis and more. If golf is not your thing there are plenty of other amenities that will fit your lifestyle.
