The house is located in the heart of the Historic Point area of Beaufort, and is a corner lot diagonal from the large (city block) Village Green, which is an ideal play ground for our dog with other dogs in the neighborhood. The character of the neighborhood is also special, with old historic homes ranging from mansions built in the 1800s to small cottages and a sprinkling of newer homes of various sizes. The neighborhood is a safe place to live and to walk at any time of the day or night. Police patrol the area regularly and fire and EMS services are minutes away if needed. The neighborhood is quiet with relatively no traffic to speak of. It is a great neighborhood to walk or jog without the worry of traffic. It’s a nice walk to downtown, Bay Street and the Waterfront Park where all sorts of festivals and celebrations are held all year long. The University of South Carolina Beaufort Campus is also just a few blocks away and offers year-round theater, plays, musical events and art shows. The location of the home also is close to our church and many other downtown churches. It is a short ride over the bridge for shopping at Publix, Beaufort Bread Company, Grayco Home Center, several plant nurseries and other retail stores. There are many good restaurants of all kinds in close proximity. Banks, doctors and Beaufort Memorial Hospital are all close by as well as many fitness centers and veterinary care and
boarding facilities for pets. The property has a large lawn area and brick patio, perfect for outdoor entertaining. We had a tent party there for friends last year. The yard is totally fenced in including a “living fence” covered with Carolina Jasmine, along the rear property line. The property is a real gardener’s delight with rich fertile soils that support a wide variety of annual and perennial pants, shrubs and trees. Gardens surround the house and lawn. There is a joy about sitting on one of the front porches and watching the horse drawn carriage rides pass by, and also to be up close and personal with the tourists from all over the world as they pass by and stop for a chat. All in all this is a great place to live.
