Beaufort SC Named One of the 11 Best Towns in America

“Stroll through downtown Beaufort with a sweet tea in hand, walk along the beach at nearby Hunting Island State Park, and try some fresh seafood at a local restaurant. Learn about the area’s history and about Gullah culture with a visit to the recently established Reconstruction Era National Historical Park and the Penn Center.”

That's what Travel + Leisure said about Beaufort SC when they placed it on an impressive list of their 11 Best Small Towns in America.

Yes, Beaufort SC is getting more accolades, and we couldn’t be happier.

In its article, Travel + Leisure added that, “Hilton Head Island and Charleston might get all the acclaim when it comes to South Carolina Lowcountry destinations, but the state has plenty of small towns also worth visiting.”

There's just something so special about our part of the Lowcountry that it keeps being raved about all over the internet and in nationally published magazines.

Beaufort was in some good company on the list with several other beautiful towns accompanying it in the top 11. Among the ten other spots across the country are Sedona, Arizona, Telluride, Colorado, St. Augustine, Florida, Mackinac Island, Michigan, and Hudson, New York.

Some of the recent accolades for beautiful Beaufort SC include being named one of the Most Beautiful Small Towns in America, the Best Small Town in South Carolina, declared to be one of the Top Spots in the Southeast to Retire, and was just named the Most Charming Town in South Carolina for the second straight year, and, even bigger, was given the prize of being The Most Charming Town in the South.

In addition to those, Southern Living magazine named Hunting Island State Park (Beaufort's backyard beach) one of the best state parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s most beautiful streets.

Also, we’re both the Healthiest County in South Carolina and the Most Patriotic city, too.

Travel + Leisure magazine a widely respected travelzine based in New York City that reportedly has well over 4.8 million readers, according to its website's media kit.
